10 Features of Apple iPhone 4 Appealing to You

True hardcore Apple fans probably know everything about the Apple's new next-generation iPhone 4, which was officially announced at WWDC in the beginning of June. The entire world found itself taking a look at the very familiar design. Well, the look of a new device wasn't really much of a surprise because those who were curious enough knew what the device looked like before the release due to some indiscretions from Gizmodo and Vietnam-based website Tinhe.

Nevertheless, it was not just about the look, though it is incredible, especially when the device is fitted into the pretty iPhone 4 case. Consumers could find much more about the new Apple's iPhone 4, including many technical details making it a very attractive device to own. In case you are already thinking of starting saving up to get this thing, here are some reason for you to do that.

Longer battery life

While giving his keynote speech at WWDC, Steve Jobs announced that the battery life of iPhone 4 will be significantly improved, which can't be ignored. Anyway, how would you ignore 7 hours of talk time on 3G, 10 hours of video or 40 hours of audio playback, 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi or 6 hours on 3G? Aren't these figures impressive?

FaceTime video chat

That's actually one of the best new options available in the newly released iPhone 4, if not the very best one. Although it only works over Wi-Fi networks, such a useful thing is worth it. The feature allows the user to enjoy live chats with those who matters to them (as long as the second party also owns an iPhone 4). So the advice is to start saving up for two devices at least.

Improved design

One should admit that the new iPhone 4 looks much better than the earlier version. Probably, it doesn't have so many curves, but shows plenty of glass, making the look modern and cool. For those Mac users out there who always wanted to accessorize their PC with an Apple handheld of the matching color, the iPhone 4 also comes in white. The advice (in case you are among those but all the white ones are gone) is just to put a white iPhone 4 cover on your device and it will match perfectly.

Enhanced camera

This is quite a reason for many users to opt for the iPhone 4. In fact, the device now sports a very serious sensor with 5 megapixels and backlight, which means that the quality of the pictures taken in bad-light conditions will increase a lot. Add here the presence of a LED flash, doubled as an LED video light, plus 5x zoom and tap to focus, and you will receive a perfect device to take photos of high quality.

HD video

One of the major updates that plenty of people have been waiting for. New iPhone 4 allows to easily record and edit videos via the iMovie application for iPhone, and even upload them onto the web. This means that the device owners will also own a full-fledged multimedia pocket studio, without paying extra for it.

Improved gaming capabilities

New iPhone 4 has borrowed Apple's A4 chip from the company's iPad tablet. This CPU makes the device much more powerful than the 3GS. It also features built-in accelerometer, which the consumers could get accustomed to if they used the previous versions of iPhone. In addition, it also has a gyroscope enabling 6-axis motion sensing like up and down, forward and backward, pitch and roll and side to side, which makes it much handier for gaming purposes.

Retina display

That is the name of the most advanced display that any of the handheld Apple products have ever had. Specifically, the 3.5-inch iPhone 4 display features 960*640 pixel resolution (which makes 326 pixels per inch), turning it into the digital perfection. It means that it would be impossible to even distinguish the pixels on the smooth screen, so all you will see is a clear, high-definition image. The advice is to take care of the display's safety right after the purchase. One of the solutions is using a protecting film or iPhone 4 cover.

iBooks app integrated

Apple's iPhone 4 follows the Kindle's path and offers access to a feature allowing the consumers to start reading e-book on one of the Apple's family devices like iPhone 4 and then continue reading on another one - iPad or iPod touch, for example.

New iOS 4

The new operation system is one the biggest advantages of iPhone 4. The device runs the iPhone OS 4, bringing about an entirely new set of attractive features like multi-tasking and folders. The iOS 4 is considered a huge step forward for the company, as the handset allows users to enjoy it at its best. Although OS 4 is planned to be available on the 3GS too, it won't run this fast anyway.

Fanboyism

The simplest reason for some people, but perhaps the strongest one, is fanboyism. You know, there are people out there ready to buy anything Apple releases just because it's Apple. Those who adore the company and its philosophy will undoubtedly opt for the iPhone 4, especially after reading through the other reasons mentioned above.

The Apple iPhone As a Business Tool

Apple iPhone is the most popular technology today. Every people from different ages are attracted by iPhone. This was the Apple policy to read the people's mind and invent the gadgets accordingly. You may think that Apple iPhone is targeted to young generations only since it offers fine entertainment features. Apple iPhone is mostly advertised for its entertainment value. The iPhone pays attention on music, video, YouTube and Facebook. But you must consider it also as a business device. This aspect of iPhone is not much advertised though.

How advantageous is using iPhone as your business tool? Sometimes using iPhone may be the reason behind uplifting your business while other times it may act useless. The features like contact manager on iPhone makes you call, text, email or SMS quickly to your contacts. This will help staying in touch with your business clients effectively. This is an ideal business environment that everyone should make? Let's take an example of a retailer of fashion goods. If you are working in such organization and has to attend fashion shows for latest design to bring in, then iPhone is your useful tool. You could take snaps from your high resolution iPhone camera and instantly send to your organization. You can take the order of hottest designs before the end of the day. If you have the hottest items in your company, your organization will be benefited. Thus iPhone would be of great business help.

iPhone also functions as PDA, which means you can have your customer wish list, information and address, your product information and many business records. There is no burden in carrying another PDA or Laptop if you have this business tool "Apple iPhone". Consider its portability and easy handling features, it help your business grow prosperously and continuously. You can involve in your business transaction wherever you are. It may be in a football stadium watching match, in a flight, in a home watching TV, enjoying coffee in a cafe and anywhere, you remain close to your business.

iPhone has some bad aspects. Suppose you need to work in construction sites, water sites, factories and in the surroundings where sensitive devices like iPhone should not be brought then your iPhone is useless at this situation. iPhones touch screen is extremely sensitive and dirt, oils, grease and moisture is unfavorable to it. There is a high risk of breaking or damaging if dropped on the ground. the iPhone cannot withstand the stressful environment of industries. iPhone is a fragile phone and could not help in business under this environment.

You get a clear view of using iPhone as a business tool. According to your particular business, you can decide if using iPhone is practical or impractical? You should justify if iPhone's expensive price and AT&T cell phone service is worth using in your business transaction. You are the one to decide if it fits in your company finances. iPhone comes to be very useful if it fits your business. However, for a person working in tough environment like industries, it is better to go for other cell phone and tools than iPhone.

Apple iPhone Vs Nokia N97 Comparison Review

A new smartphone in the Nokia N-series will be coming out in January '09, the Nokia N97, and already all the buzz is whether or not this will be the iPhone Killer that's been prophesied for so long. Here is a heads-up on how the two devices stack up.

On the face of it, the Nokia N97 looks more like the iPhone than any other Nokia to date. It's got the slender candybar shape (more slender than the iPhone's, in fact) the minimalist buttons (two instead of one) and the 3.5" touchscreen occupying the bulk of the face. In the hand, you come to realize that, while slimmer, the N97 is also thicker and heavier than the iPhone.

While possessing the same size touchscreen as the iPhone, the N97's screen resolution puts the iPhone's to shame, with 16:9 true widescreen (640 x 360 pixels) to the iPhone's 3:2 (320 x 480). So for multimedia and video playback, gaming, and photo managing, the N97 comes out well on top of the iPhone.

And whereas both the iPhone and the N97 support most audio and video formats, the N97 has the added advantage of supporting Flash Lite, Flash Video and Windows Media 9. This Flash support is not to be undervalued, as it will allow N97 users to render web pages a lot more completely than the iPhone 3G is currently able. The iPhone also lacks browser-based Java support; the N97 may or may not, it is still unclear.

The digital camera on the Nokia N97 is also far superior to the iPhone's (and to those of most other smartphones currently on the market) with 5-megapixels, Carl Zeiss optics, an LED flash, and DVD-quality video recording with built-in video lighting. The iPhone still has that meager 2-megapixel relic with neither a built-in flash nor manual focus.

The N97 also beats the iPhone in memory - both in the way of onboard storage (32 GB vs. 8 GB or 16 GB) and expandable memory (up to the 16 GB extra vs. none at all).

The most noticeable difference between the N97 and the iPhone is that the Nokia has a slideout QWERTY keyboard in addition to its Apple-comparable touchscreen keypad.

Both the iPhone and the Nokia N97 have built-in GPSs (the iPhone's including 3rd party geo-location apps and GoogleMaps, the N97's including an electronic compass and NokiaMaps). Both have HSDPA, Bluetooth, and WiFi connectivity.

No one can expect, however, that the Nokia store will ever be able to offer N97 users the range and variety of smartphone apps that the iTunes App Store offer iPhone users.

Though prices have yet to be released, particularly in US dollars, it seems clear at least that the Nokia N97, with all its advantages over the iPhone, will also cost more to purchase than the iPhone.

The Apple iPhone Review

Iphones are the multimedia-enabled phones having the best features. Even the hardware provided with it is the best one. Lets start with the battery. Its battery has the 2-year warranty, but if it is not working properly then it is replaced by the company. If you want to increase the warranty period of the battery then it is extendible to one year. But after one year if your battery meets to a failure then you have to call for a new battery and for this you have to pay $70 USD (cost of the battery) and $6.95 USD shipping cost. The quality of the battery is best and it is said that after the full recharge it has the capacity to give 80% output.

Now, lets discuss something about the sim. SIM is not inserted in iphones because they are designed to use only AT & T network. But then also there are some unlocked Iphones, which supports the SIM. So in these iphones SIMs are inserted from upper side. This is suggested that not to use unlocked iphones because in future when you want to install some application on your iphone then the iphone software blocks your iphone.

Iphones comes with two memory capacities one is 4gb and the other is 8gb. The Samsung manufactures these both. Now iphones are also awailabele with the memory of 16gb. The one-negetive point, which associates with the Iphone, is that its memory is extendible.

Iphones has their own operating system iphone OS. This iphone OS is same as MAC OS X. But for iphones we have to write different code for software, as we cannot use the same code used in the MAC OS X. for instance safari web browser is a web browser used in the OS of iphones.

There are many applications which are installed in the iphone some of them are camera, calendar, you tube, map, weather clock, notes etc. In this you tube is used to view movies and video. To use this applicaton you have to install the quick time player and attach your iphone with wi-fi. Iphones are also enabled for third party installations i.e. the other software are also installed in the iphone. Updates are also present for iphones which includes phone upgrades, patches and many more. In this way we got many features with iphones and you want to move with the world then you have to buy an iphone.

Most Evident Reasons Not to Own an Apple iPhone

True, the new Apple iPhone is a groundbreaking phone. There's a lot to love and brag about it! The astounding easy-to-use touchscreen interface... amazing video playback... a big, bright, high contrast, high-resolution display... and a web browser that is as good as any you'd use on a desktop computer. Wow! That's the best of any smartphone available in the market.

Apple also has done a great job telling the entire world how good it is to own an iPhone. For those interested in keeping up with the Jones', the iPhone is a must have item this year and probably next year too. The question is... does the Apple iPhone really live up to the hype? Is the iPhone really worth top dollar? Here are the most evident reasons not to own an iPhone.

The first reason is the price. Definitely, an iPhone is such a powerful device but owning one would really cost you dollars... big time!. The average price for an iPhone is between $200 - $300. That is a lot of money for a phone. With this price, absolutely... some people would think that it is a luxury item as there are phones that offer similar features, such as Blackberry or Motorola Q, both also have Internet and email capabilities, also. If you are looking for touch screens and music, there are hundreds of phones that will suit these requirements without having to shell out so much money. You definitely noticed that the iPhone's advertising is geared toward teens and young adults, come on...does a teenager really need a $300 worth phone?

The second most evident reason is the battery. Yes, you cannot replace the Apple iPhone's battery. If that battery dies, you are out of luck. Apple decided that soldering the battery to the unit was preferable than offering a proprietary battery or any standard cell phone battery. Busted battery means buying a new Apple iPhone and that means more money for the Apple company. Apparently many users did not realize this as Apple made no effort to make this common knowledge. Just imagine yourself paying for another phone after 24 months, which is the average life of a cell phone battery... really scary!

Third reason would be the Internet access. Although the Apple iPhone is labeled as having the most amazing Internet capabilities, there are many shortcomings to its browser. You cannot make a "quick" Internet probe using the iPhone. The browser's search capabilities are severely lacking, which makes finding what you want on the Internet somewhat difficult and time consuming.

Memory... yes, this is another most evident reason not to own an iPhone. You have the choice to purchase an 8 GB or 16 GB iPhone. How can Apple brag about the iPhone that it has a 3.5-inch screen where you can watch movies and also has great external speakers but you cannot load it up with all your favorite movie clips and sound? When you use up all of your available space on the iPhone, your options are to delete or transfer old contents to another device like your PC or Mac. Pretty obvious... iPhone's limited storage capacity is part of the Apple's marketing strategy. Urging people to buy a separate MP3 player, such as... what else.. the iPod.

The fifth reason is the service provider. You are limited to AT&T's cell phone service packages for the iPhone if you wish to use it. These packages are expensive as they all include data and Internet. AT&T has no incentive to change their iPhone service pricing because they have exclusive rights to provide service to the iPhones. This has led to a great number of hacked iPhones on the market that can be used on other networks. As long as Apple and AT&T's agreement stays exclusive... expect hackers.

The Apple iPhone doesn't have cut and paste. This is another most evident reason not to own an Apple iPhone. This one is truly hard to understand. Apple brings out one of the world's most advanced smartphones in terms of user interface, and somehow forgets to put in cut and paste... probably the only smartphone that doesn't have it.

Overall, the Apple iPhone is an overpriced and totally over hyped. These reasons are valid and yes evident... that you should consider first before owning one.

David Chan, a business professional and a mobile technology enthusiast, shares his first hand experience on the iPhone. According to David, although owning an iPhone is really amazing there are still reasons not to own an iPhone. Find out more about the iPhone at http://everypathnbeyond.com/

Apple iPhone Cheap - Where to Find the Best iPhone Deal

Is it possible to get an Apple iPhone cheap? Yes, if you look around until you find a great buy. However, a cheap Apple iPhone can be hard to find. One of the reasons this is true is that the iPhone is still relatively new. The first iPhone was introduced in June of 2007, so many people are still marveling at the newness of the iPhone. In fact, some people are just now picking up the iPhone, so sales are still going strong. Even though the iPhone 3G, a newer model with some new features, has been released, the original iPhone's are still in use.

Finding a cheap Apple iPhone, therefore, isn't as easy as you might like it to be. You might be able to purchase an original iPhone off of someone who has upgraded to the iPhone 3G, though, for less than the original price. However, you may be stuck with a particular carrier if the iPhone you buy isn't unlocked. In that case, you'll have to buy a contract with that carrier. If you manage to find a cheap unlocked Apple iPhone, you can get around that issue, but unlocked phones are rarely cheap.

There's also the issue of buying a used iPhone. You never know what exactly has happened to the iPhone you're buying. It could have been dropped, kicked around, sat on, or any other thing. While it's a cheap iPhone, it's also one that may have taken some abuse. Just keep that in mind when purchasing a used iPhone, and be sure to do the math. If you sign up for a three-year contract, you may be able to purchase a new iPhone for just a bit more than a used one.

In fact, one of the best ways to get a cheap Apple iPhone is to sign up for a contract. If you agree to a long-term contract, you can get your iPhone for less than half price. Even better, this iPhone is brand new, so you know it won't have taken any prior abuse. However, it will most likely be a locked iPhone, so you will be stuck with that carrier. You may have the option of getting the phone unlocked once the contract is up.

Either option can result in a cheap Apple iPhone. It just depends on whether you want a used phone or if you want a new one with a contract.

Does The Apple iPhone Measure Up To Its Hype?

The hype machine for the Apple iPhone was in full swing right up to its official launch on June 29, 2007. During the run up to its launch, Apple shrewdly whetted the public's appetite for the iPhone by showing off it's alluring design while keeping many details about the iPhone shrouded in mystery. So what is the iPhone exactly and more importantly, is it all Apple says it is?

The Apple iPhone is actually three devices in one: a cell phone, a wide screen iPod, and a wireless Internet device. It measures in at 4.5" x 4" x 0.46" and weighs in at 4.8 ounces. Not exactly small, but the iPhone has a pretty slim profile, which further adds to its appeal.

The core of the Apple iPhone is its 3.5" touch screen. The touch screen of the iPhone has caused more than a little controversy. A touch screen provides no tactile feedback, which can make users less secure about what they enter on it. Apple is confident that once users get accustomed to the iPhone's touch screen then all will be good. However, hardcore critics remain unconvinced that the touch screen will be without its problems. The area of greatest concern is users who rely heavily on texting. Will they be able to whip out short text messages on the iPhone's touch screen without stumbling?

The Apple iPhone of course is also an iPod, which will play both MP3 music files downloaded from iTunes as well as video files. The iPhone syncs like an iPod to either a Mac or a PC. However, users will not be able to wirelessly download files from iTunes. This will require a physical connection to a computer.

The cell phone portion of the iPhone supports quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900), thus making it a true "world phone" capable of working in the US, Europe, and Asia. On the data side, the iPhone uses 2.5G EDGE technologies. However, the multimedia features of the iPhone would be better served by the broadband capabilities of 3G networks, such as UMTS and HSDPA, which interestingly enough, AT&T now supports. One saving grace is that the iPhone will come with built-in WiFi to access high-speed Internet connections.

The iPhone's battery is rated for 8 hours of talk time and 6 hours of Internet use. The battery talk time was initially rated for 5 hours, but was upgraded by Apple prior to release of the iPhone. This will make it the longest lasting cell phone battery second only to some Sony Ericsson cell phones. The iPhone is rated for 24 hours of audio playback and the battery can retain its charge in standby mode for up to 10 days.

Additional features include a 2 Mega-pixel digital, which is a high enough resolution to produce some crisp digital photos. The iPhone also supports BlueTooth technology. A feature that the iPhone will not support initially is GPS. This may disappoint some potential customers, but a workable alternative is to access Google Maps via the built-in Safari browser for your navigation needs.

A particularly cool feature of the iPhone, that may also prove to be very functional, is a series of built-in sensors that detect how you're holding the iPhone. A proximity sensor knows when you bring the phone to your ear and will dim the screen and shut off the touch screen. There's an ambient light sensor that adjusts brightness to save battery power, and there's even an accelerometer that knows when to switch between landscape and portrait mode. Pretty slick, huh?

As of this writing, it's not possible to say for sure how the Apple iPhone will catch on with consumers. However, given Apple's track record for producing life-changing products such as the Mac and iPod, as well as a brilliantly executed marketing campaign, the smart money is on the Apple iPhone being a huge seller, perhaps in the same league as the iPod.

Apple IPhone Specifications

The Apple iPhone was officially announced by Apple CEO Steve Jobs during his keynote speech at the Macworld Expo in early 2007.

The iPhone is Apple's first move into the mobile phone industry, boasting vast multimedia features including a camera, media player and an array of internet services - the iPhone is highly anticipated.

With a scheduled US release date of June 2007 (other regions not yet confirmed), the phone will be available in two models. The first being a 4 GB model retailing at US$499 and its big brother the 8 GB model retailing at US$599.

To bring you up to speed on the Apple iPhone here's a guide to the hardware, software and the features this new Apple product has to offer.

The Full Technical Specification:

Screen size: 3.5 inches

Screen resolution: 320 by 480 at 160 ppi

Input method: Multi-touch

Operating system: OS X

Storage: 4GB or 8GB

GSM: Quad-band (MHz: 850, 900, 1800, 1900)

Wireless data: Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + EDGE + Bluetooth 2.0

Camera: 2.0 megapixels

Battery: Up to 5 hours Talk / Video / Browsing, Up to 16 hours Audio playback

Dimensions: 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches

Weight: 4.8 ounces / 135 grams

Functionality:

The iPhone boasts a whopping 3.5-inch touch screen display designed specifically for use with your bare hands (the touch screen relies on bare skin so the need for a stylus is simply not there). To input text the iPhone uses a virtual keyboard allowing the user to quickly and easily input their desired text. As you would expect the virtual keyboard has all the functions you would expect, auto spell check, predictive text, dictionary etc.

A key feature of the iPhone's navigation and functionality is the scroll feature. Similar to the iPod scroll wheel the movement allows you to quickly and easily move through the menu's, the wheel can be "spun" by sliding a finger over the display - the faster the 'spin' the quicker the menu or item is navigated through.

Features:

As you would expect the iPhone has all the usual features you'd expect from any standard Cell phone including conferencing, call holding, call merging, caller ID, email and all the rest.

The iPhone also includes a 2 Mega Pixel built-in camera that will allow you to record and capture video and still images and using the provided software transfer these to your PC or Mac.

The most appealing feature of the iPhone is it's incorporation of its big brother the iPod MP3 player. Similar to the 5th generation of iPods the iPhone can handle video playback as well as a music library.

Online:

The iPhone also has online capabilities due to its built-in WiFi technology. With the assistance of a wireless network the iPhone can display full web pages using the Safari browser rather than simplified WAP style pages. As well as browsing the internet, the iPhone is capable of sending and receiving email thanks to its HTML email application.

Operating System:

According to Apple an optimized (slimmed down) version of the popular Mac OS X Operating system will work fine on the iPhone although they haven't as of yet gone into any specifics on this, nor has the process been officially explained.

Apple has commented in the past that OS updates for the iPhone will be very smooth and work in a similar way to the iPod and Mac OS X updates. Like the OS X Dashboard Apple revealed the iPhone will support various Widgets for example, stocks and shares and weather modules.

Miscellaneous Features:

As you would expect the iPhone features a built-in non-replaceable battery unit just like the iPod and is capable of providing up to 5 hours of video playback, voice calls or web browsing. Music playback is around the 16 hours mark.

At the end of the day, the iPhone is going to be useful to those who will use its features. With the market for Blackberries constantly on the rise and the market for iPods continually growing, I think the product that Apple are offering will be picked up and valued by a wide range of people. It converges together the practical and the fashionable, which is a very difficult thing to do. It might be a big investment, but if you are going to use it the iPhone is excellent value and a sound investment that you will find yourself turning to throughout the day for entertainment, information and more besides.

Apple iPhone Parts

If like many iPhone users, you've discovered that malfunctioning Apple iPhone parts can be a real chore. The decision whether to send an iPhone off to an authorized service center, or simply buy a new one, can put the wallet somewhere between a rock and a hard place. Even if it is cheaper to repair, it might not make any sense to continue with a semi-damaged phone in lieu of a new one for the price. Instead of getting down, it's best to get an idea of what some of the other options are. By finding other users selling broken or damaged iPhones, or even just Apple iPhone parts, it can be easier than you think to fix a broken iPhone- and certainly more economical. Today, Apple iPhone parts are available for low prices, for both the 1st Generation iPhone and the new iPhone 3G model. The same applies to iPods, and other pesky electronic devices. With fairly simple replacement procedures, the average iPhone user should consider a parts replacement before plunking down last month's paycheck for a new product.

Some of the most common problems to face iPhone users are that the LCD screen is of poor condition, rendering the iPhone unusable, that the iPhone has become water damaged, that the battery will not charge or hold charge, that the iPhone has a broken or cracked screen, and that the iPhone won't power on. Instead of tossing the phone out, especially for broken or cracked screens or faulty batteries, make an easy and cheap replacement with used or wholesale Apple iPhone parts. Maybe a repair is covered by a warranty, or maybe not. Regardless, keep all your options open when it comes to electronics repairs. With easy online how-to tutorials and extremely affordable replacement Apple iPhone parts, there's never any need to panic when accidents happen. A phone wouldn't be practical if we could never take it anywhere with us. Our lives demand going to work, the gym, socializing, sporting events, conferences, on business trips and much, much, more. Even with the somewhat fragile nature of the iPhone, there's no need to fear knowing it is possible to get Apple iPhone parts without breaking the bank.

On the other end of the issue? Have a broken iPhone that you just can't seem to get rid of? Why not try selling it for parts. Apple iPhone parts are increasingly in demand, and it could be a great way to get a little cash advanced on your next technological purchase, whether it be an iPhone or not. If not up to the challenge of disarming an old iPhone, try using a company or service that buys old, used, broken and damaged electronic goods. Most of these companies can be found online, will surely buy used Apple iPhone parts, and will trade you for cash. With little to no effort it is entirely possible for some good to come out of an iPhone that has been the best thing you've ever owned or the bane of your existence- but for whatever reason has ceased to function.

Whatever you decide to do with an used, old, broken or damaged iPhone, get online to research how people everywhere are benefitting from buying and selling Apple iPhone parts today!

From logic boards to LCD screens to back covers, http://www.iPhonepartspro.com has everything you need to get your phone back in great shape. With a full line of iPhone repair parts.

Using an Apple iPhone in Canada with Rogers or Fido

Using An Apple iPhone in Canada

I've had many people come up to me and ask, "Where did you buy your iPhone in Canada?" My answer to them is, "I didn't buy my iPhone in Canada! I bought it from Seattle, WA, and unlocked the iPhone myself!". Yes, that's right folks. The majority of iPhones in Canada have been purchased by Canucks who went down to the States to purchase them. After that, they either unlocked the iPhone in Canada themselves, or paid someone to unlock it for them.

What Mobile Networks Work With An iPhone in Canada?

There are two GSM networks in Canada. The first, is Rogers. The second, which is owned by Rogers, is Fido. These are the two networks you can use your iPhone in Canada with. It's a very simple process to hook up your iPhone in Canada. The first thing is to get your hands on an iPhone. Once it has been "jailbreaked" (iTunes activation has been bypassed) and "unlocked" (opened to be used with any GSM network; ie--Fido, Rogers, etc.), all you have to do is pop the SIM card tray out of the top of the iPhone with a paperclip, and insert your Rogers or Fido SIM card. Turn your phone back on and--VOILA! You will now have a working iPhone in Canada! However, new iPhones in Canada with iPhone firmware 1.1.2 cannot be software unlocked at the moment. The only way to unlock these iPhones is to use a TurboSIM method, which requires a slight modification of your SIM card which then fits into a "tray" that slides into your iPhone. This "tray" tricks your iPhone and allows it to be used with any GSM network in Canada (or the world!)

What Features Work on the iPhone in Canada?

Every single feature works on your "jailbreaked" and "unlocked" iPhone in Canada! The only feature that does not work is "Visual Voicemail," however that feature is only available to AT&T subscribers in the USA. YouTube, WiFi, EDGE, Camera, Weather, Stocks, iPod, Calculator, Mail, Google Maps, SMS, and all the other features work with your iPhone in Canada. However, depending on what firmware you are running, your SMS voicemail notifications may not work with Rogers or Fido. Users on firmware version 1.1.1 can install a 3rd party application that will allow for the iPhone to receive SMS voicemail notifications. There are also 3rd party applications to send MMS messages, install games, and other fun programs! The possibilities are endless!

Are There Any Hidden Costs to Using an Unlocked iPhone in Canada?

The answer is NO! Many people have been scared by the recent news reports of users being billed up to $50,000 for a cell phone bill, due to overusing a data plan! That is NOT the case with your iPhone in Canada. All you have to do to prevent being billed is to remove the EDGE settings in your iPhone, and you will not be charged a DIME! By the time your iPhone is in Canada, the EDGE settings for Rogers and Fido will not be entered into the iPhone's settings anyways--so you'll be safe for now!

I hope this article has helped you understand more about using an iPhone in Canada. If you want the latest unlocking guides, news, tips, and tricks about using the iPhone in Canada, please visit the blog, iPhone in Canada!
